How to Plant Green Onions



Tried planting green onions with onion bulbs. I hope to do better next time.

Green onions, also known as spring onions, salad onions and scallions, are vegetables derived from various species in the genus allium. It has milder taste than most onions. These leaves are often used as vegetable eaten raw or cooked. It is often chopped into other dishes in the manner of onions or garlic.

Green onions are excellent source of vitamin K and vitamin C, and a vitamin A. It is used in salads as flavoring.

Other benefits of green onions are:
1. Good for the heart
2. Controls blood sugar
3. Antiviral properties
4. Low calories
5. Cancer prevention
6. Good for eyes
7. Joint inflammation prevention
8. Nasal congestion (runny nose)
9. Swollen feet
10. Sore throat
11. Lessen inflammation aggravation
12. Quercetin

While not especially serious, eating onions can cause problems for some people. The carbohydrates in onions may cause gas and bloating, according to National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse. It's high amount of vitamin K can decrease blood thinner functioning.
